Essential Qualification (Any One)
Option 1:
- Ph.D in Life Sciences / Biological Sciences / Plant Biotechnology / Agri. Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Plant Functional Genomics from a recognised Institute/University
- AND 2 years of experience in Research and Development in Industrial and academic institutions, or in science and technology organizations, and scientific activities or services
Option 2:
- Master’s in Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Agricultural Biotechnology / Life Sciences
- AND 3 years’ experience in research in academic/R&D Institutions/Universities and scientific activities
Desirable Qualifications
- Demonstrated research experience in CRISPR/Cas-based plant genome editing and functional genomics in rice crop improvement
- Hands-on/demonstrated experience in:
- Plant-pathogen interaction
- Tissue culture
- Transformation of rice

CSIR-NEIST 2026 Recruitment – Important Instructions
- No Application Fee – Candidates need not pay any fee.
- Result Awaited candidates need not apply – Only candidates who have already passed the qualifying examination are eligible.
- Maximum tenure of engagement as project staff is 6 years (considering engagement in different projects across CSIR institutes).
- Co-terminus engagement – The position is co-terminus with the project duration (up to 31st March 2027, may be extended/curtailed as per funding agency grant).
- No right to regularization – This engagement does not confer any right for permanent appointment in the institute.
- NOC required – Project staff currently working in CSIR-NEIST must obtain NOC to apply for other project vacancies.
- PhD work allowed – Project staff may be allowed to pursue PhD work based on CSIR Guidelines and with approval.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
- The waitlisted panel will be valid for 1 year from the date of notification.
- The Institute reserves the right to keep the recruitment in abeyance/cancel at any moment without assigning any reason.
- Candidates should have computer knowledge for day-to-day work.
