UPSC 2026 Recruitment– Age Limit
The upper age limit varies depending on the post and the candidate’s category. Applicants belonging to reserved categories are eligible for age relaxation as per the Government of India rules. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are entitled to an additional 10 years of age relaxation over the prescribed upper age limit. However, the maximum permissible age for PwBD candidates shall not exceed 56 years under any circumstances. Age relaxation for Ex-Servicemen and Central Government employees will also be applicable in accordance with the prevailing Central Government regulations.

UPSC 2026 Recruitment– Salary Details
Candidates selected under UPSC Advertisement No. 07/2026 will be appointed under the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Matrix. The salary varies according to the post and pay level, ranging from Pay Level-7 to Pay Level-11. Medical posts are also eligible for Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) wherever applicable. In addition to the basic pay, employees will receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and other benefits as per Central Government norms.

- Account Creation: Register on the portal to generate a Universal Registration Number (URN) .
- Universal Registration: Fill in personal details, category, educational qualifications, etc.
- Common Application Form (CAF): Fill the common application form with photo, signature, and live photo capture.

UPSC 2026 Recruitment– Selection Process
The selection process for UPSC Advertisement No. 07/2026 differs depending on the post applied for. Generally, the recruitment process includes shortlisting of applications, a Recruitment Test (RT) or Combined Recruitment Test (CRT) if required, followed by a Personality Test (Interview). Candidates are shortlisted based on the information submitted in their online application and, where applicable, their performance in the Recruitment Test.
- Online Application: Candidates must submit their online application through the UPSC Online Portal on or before 17 July 2026.
- Application Shortlisting: UPSC will scrutinize and shortlist candidates based on the details provided in the online application form. Any incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information may result in rejection during the computer-based screening process.
- Recruitment Test (RT) / Combined Recruitment Test (CRT) – If Required: In cases where a large number of applications are received, UPSC may conduct a Recruitment Test or Combined Recruitment Test before the interview stage. These tests are generally held at centres including Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Dispur (Guwahati), Jaipur, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port Blair, Ranchi, and Visakhapatnam.
- Personality Test / Interview: Candidates shortlisted after the screening process and RT/CRT (if conducted) will be invited for the Personality Test (Interview). They must produce a printed copy of the online application along with original documents and self-attested photocopies for verification.
- Final Selection: The final merit list will be prepared based on the applicable selection criteria. Appointment orders will be issued by the respective Ministry or Department. UPSC may also recommend a higher initial pay for exceptionally meritorious candidates based on their interview performance.

Candidates are not required to submit any documents while filling out the online application form. However, applicants shortlisted for the Personality Test (Interview) must produce the original documents along with self-attested photocopies for verification. Failure to present the required documents at the time of the interview may lead to cancellation of candidature and loss of eligibility for reimbursement of travelling expenses.
