Age Relaxation
The upper age limit is relaxable for eligible candidates as per the recruitment rules:
- Serving Railway Employees: Regular railway employees, including casual labourers with at least three years of continuous service, and substitutes who have completed three years of continuous or broken service in the Railways, are eligible for relaxation up to:
- UR: 40 Years
- OBC: 43 Years

- Widows, Divorced Women & Judicially Separated Women (Not Remarried):

- Ex-Servicemen: The upper age limit will be relaxed by the length of military service rendered plus an additional 3 years, provided the candidate has completed at least six months of continuous service in the Armed Forces. This benefit is not available to ex-servicemen who have already secured a civilian Government job after availing the same concession.

Who Comes Under Minority & EBC Categories?

Essential Qualification
Candidates must fulfill any one of the following educational qualifications:
- Passed 12th (10+2) or its equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for NTPC categories. The minimum 50% marks requirement is not applicable to SC/ST, Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Disabilities (PwBD), or candidates possessing qualifications higher than the prescribed minimum.
OR - Passed Matriculation (10th) along with a Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA) certificate approved by NCVT/SCVT for Technical Categories.
OR - Passed Matriculation (10th) with an ITI certificate recognized by NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade for Technical Categories.
In addition to the above, applicants must possess a Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in the relevant cultural discipline (Saxophonist or Western Classical Pianist) issued by a Government-recognized institution.
Important: Candidates must have acquired all the required educational and professional qualifications on or before the application closing date. Those awaiting their final examination results are not eligible to apply.
Note: Candidates appointed as Clerk-cum-Typist will be required to achieve a typing speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi within two years of appointment. Their appointment will remain provisional until the typing proficiency requirement is fulfilled.

Selection Process Highlights
- The Written Examination carries 50 marks and consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

Written Test & Practical Examination Centre
- The Written Examination, Practical Demonstration, and Document Verification will be conducted at Maligaon, Guwahati.

Free Railway Travel Facility
